Al-Farabi Academic Readings: Model Journalism Curricula

On 8 April 2016, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication at the Faculty of Journalism supported by UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office conducted a scientific-practical conference devoted to the model international journalism curricula in the Framework of al-Farabi Readings.

The conference was affected by the UNESCO standards, practices and techniques of international journalism, and the theme of freedom of speech and freedom of information; Media pluralism: Media as the trust instrument. Under the theme of Communication for sustainable development and current challenges were discussed the role of Internet issues in civil society and democracy. Including legal regulation of the Internet. Questions journalist safety in conflict zones. International Days and programs aimed at the safety of journalists.

The conference was attended by representatives of non-governmental organizations International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech "Adil Soz", International Journalism Center MediaNet, Public Foundation of Turkic-speaking journalists, Suleyman Demirel University, international organizations and consulates accredited in Almaty.

The event is devoted to the Celebration of World Press Freedom Day on 3 May, and the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures from 2013 to 2022.
