31 July 2015

On 2-8 August 2015 a Summer School on Glacier Mass Balance Measurements and Analysis took place at the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences (CAIAG) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

On 2-8 August 2015 the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS), in cooperation with the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences (CAIAG) and the University of Fribourg, organized a Summer School on Mass Balance Measurements and Analysis in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The event was co-sponsored by UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office. The summer school was carried out within the framework of the project “Capacity Building and Twinning for Climate Observing Systems” (CATCOS) led by MeteoSwiss and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

A dozen young specialists in glaciology from Central Asian countries, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan were selected by organizers for participation in the course. Theoretical lectures took place at CAIAG in Bishkek.
