Heritage Days 2022 at UNESCO (17-18 September 2022)

On 17 and 18 September, UNESCO is marking the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention with Heritage Days.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., two days of opening of the Organization's headquarters will allow the public to:
— Discover the carte blanche given to Sacha Jafri, a rising contemporary artist.
— Have access to never-before-seen masterpieces of contemporary art from his collection, accessible in augmented reality or in real life, presented to everyone by students from the Ecole du Louvre and our team.
— Discuss with 4 UNESCO experts on major heritage issues: endangered natural heritage, sustainable tourism, safeguarding in war zones or after natural disasters.
— A tour of major world heritage sites, treasures of humanity, with the documentary series "The Wonders of UNESCO" produced by Adrénaline, as well as the photo exhibition The Next 50th all around UNESCO, conceived in collaboration with Nat Geo and Yan Bighetti de Flogny.

Sacha Jafri's exhibition – The Art Maze

The Art Maze is a project developed with the United Nations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of UNESCO's World Heritage sites. The impressive labyrinth created by German multidisciplinary artist Marcus Schaefer was launched in March 2022 at the Burj Al Arab heliport. British artist and philanthropist Sacha Jafri highlights the beauty and diversity of World Heritage sites through animated oil and acrylic paintings that have been praised by visitors and media around the world. After the launch in Dubai, the Art Maze continued its journey in May 2022 with the unveiling of the very first painting which was placed on Mount Everest at a height of 4500 metres. In September, for the first time, the Art Maze will travel to Paris and open its doors to the general public during the European Heritage Days at UNESCO Headquarters.

Followed by more than 1.1 million followers on Instagram, the artist is world-renowned for creating the world's largest canvas painting.
