Master in World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development

The International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC ILO) is launching a call for applications for the new edition of the Master in World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development, which will take place from 15 October 2019 to 14 October 2020.

The Master duration is 1 year with only 4 months of face-to-face learning activities taking place in Turin, Italy. This makes the programme accessible and affordable for working practitioners and students coming from outside of Italy.

It is organized into three major learning cycles:
- The first cycle will be conducted through a distance learning component that will start on 15 October 2019 and will end in January 2020.
- The second cycle, from 20 January 2020 to 15 May 2020, is a face-to-face learning period that will be held in Turin, Italy, at the International Training Centre of the ILO. Class attendance is compulsory for the entire period.
- The third cycle, from May 2020 to October 2020, will be a research and study period during which the students are expected to finalize their final project documents in their home countries.
Essential requirements for admission are to hold a first university degree (minimum 3 years or 180 ETCS) and to be fluent in English.

Since 2003 the International Training Centre of the ILO (represented by the Turin School of Development), the "Universitа di Torino" and the "Politecnico di Torino" in collaboration with UNESCO and ICCROM, have pooled their resources for the design and delivery of this Master, which aims to impart the necessary competencies and skills for the management of cultural resources, the design and implementation of cultural projects at the local and regional scale. Over the years the Master in “World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development” has developed a multidisciplinary approach between culture economics, management and planning.

Special attention is paid to World Heritage Sites and to other UNESCO designations, with specific regard to the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and to the ongoing international challenges and dynamics in approaching culture in its diverse expressions as a resource for development.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be awarded a joint 1st level specialization Master's Diploma from the University of Torino and the Politecnico di Torino.

The final deadline for application is 1 June 2019. A limited number of partial scholarships are available for students from developing countries.
