UNESCO Office in Almaty in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Public Information took part in the Conference "Servants of the Muses - Achievements and Initiatives" which was attended by library and information specialists from Musical Universities of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
The event was held in the framework of the festival "Almaty - the cultural capital of the Commonwealth" in the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy as part of the International Library Forum "XXI Century Libraries - New Horizons".16 October 2014 the conference take place in Almaty. Libraries of the higher music institutions from above mentioned countries discusses the project "The music library of the CIS", as well as formulated project work plan and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The Librarian Memorandum based on the Paris Declaration on Open Educational Resources (OER), helping to librarians in sharing and dissemination of creative commons musical publications.
UN Department of Public Information made the presentation of mobile ICT innovations, particularly the Android application UN News Reader and UN Calendar, as good example for accessing public information. Applications received positive feedback after installation by the conference participants.
The event take place at the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy which celebrates its anniversary - 70 years. Same age of the conservatory library. In the creation of the conservatory and the formation of book collections were renowned artists and cultural figures of the Soviet Union, had been evacuated during the Wold War II to Almaty. A rare collection of the library contains books donated by Sergei Prokofiev, Galina Ulanova, Zavadsky, Sats, Maretskaya and many others. For 70 years, the great figures of the musical art - teachers and talented students, who later became the pride of Kazakhstan, the library gave his scientific writings, notes, piano - their beautiful creations. All this is the heritage of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Conservatory Library, called now - Scientific Information Library Service has been working on the digitization of this invaluable fund in order to make it accessible for artists and to all residents of Kazakhstan and independent states esteeming it ennobling and inspiring art.
