A regional seminar on "Capacity-Building of Children of Central Asia in Arts Education for Intercultural Dialogue and Understanding" as part of the UNESCO Participation Programme project was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan from 22nd to 25th November 2012.
The event was organized by the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs (KazFUCA), the UNESCO Inter-Cultural Creative Observatory in Central Asia and UNESCO Clubs of Tajikistan. The company TCell, as well as the art gallery “Mino”, supported the project.The training took place with the participation of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO and the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO.
The meeting of the International jury of the «The Children are Painting the World. Central Asia ", was held on 22nd November, 2012 and the best artworks of the children of the Republic of Tajikistan were awarded at this event.
Within the framework of the UNESCO Participation Programme on «Capacity Building of Children of Central Asia in Arts Education for Intercultural Dialogue and Understanding", a number of seminars were conducted by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Secretary-General of the Tajikistan National Commission for UNESCO – Ms. Shahlo Abdurakhimova, Head of the UNESCO Inter-Cultural Creative Observatory in Central Asia and Vice-President of the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs – Ms. Khanzada Yessenova, a representative of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty – Ms. Katerina Krylova were speakers at the seminar. Scientists, specialists in arts and designers, representatives of UNESCO Clubs of Central Asian countries, civil society and UNESCO Associated Schools of Tajikistan discussed their experiences promoting the ideals of peace, tolerance and dialogue among cultures, which contributed to the development of regional integration and strengthened the network of UNESCO Clubs in Tajikistan. The organizers and participants of the seminar gained invaluable experience and exchanged views on implementing UNESCO best practices in art education in the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the National Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan ( November 24, 2012), the specialists in the arts and designers from Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) conducted master classes for young participants and taught the art of making a national Kazakh talisman "Tumar" as well as textile dolls dressed in Uzbek national costumes, creating miniatures in grattazh technology and decorative composition with elements of contemporary art. During the UNESCO Festival, the best children’s paintings were presented and the winners were awarded. The presentation of the album "Children are painting the world. Central Asia 2011-2012 ", was dedicated to the International Day of Peace and included paintings by the young Central Asian artists of the project.
The closing ceremony was attended by a number of distinguished guests: Chairman of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO, the Minister of Culture, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic missions, the business community and creative groups in Tajikistan.
