Within the framework of the project "Strengthening national capacities for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in Central Asia" UNESCO is conducting a training workshop on «Community-Based Inventorying of Intangible Cultural Heritage» from 22 to 29 of November 2013 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.
The main objective of the training is to strengthen practical technical skills of the participants in identifying the ICH and inventory-making. In particular, the training will foster activities on ICH elements’ inventory and the development of inventories in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as strengthen capacities of national experts and representatives of communities – bearers of ICH.Participants of the training, representing the National Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, leading universities and museums of the country, NGOs in the field of crafts, traditional music and dance and bearers of ICH elements, will learn about the inventories under the UNESCO’s Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage and will take part in practical field work on inventory-making..
The event is organized by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan with the support of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO with the financial support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs is implementing the training.
