On 19-20 October 2016 UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office together with Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs (KazFUCA) and with the support Administration of Mangystau oblast (region) organized the CDIS training workshop for the first time in the region within the framework of the UN Joint Programme “Expanding the opportunities of the Mangystau region in achieving sustainable development and socio-economic modernization”.
The Culture for development indicators were developed by UNESCO for combining the cultural sector with human development. Within the preparation of training materials the CDIS Methodology Manual was translated into Russian. Previously, the publication was available in English and French only.The training workshop aimed to transmit detailed information on the UNESCO CDIS project and the tools used to for its implementation, the Methodology Manual and Toolkit. It shared the projects goals, ways of achieving them, and usage and usefulness of the results.
The event was attended by representatives of leading organizations in the field of education and culture from Mangystau oblast, Almaty and Astana cities. Ms. Alma Mrgan-Slipicevic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), UNESCO Special Adviser on “Culture for Development Indicators” project was invited to facilitate the training workshop.
During the workshop, participants learned about the best practices of project implementation worldwide and held the panel discussions on implementation of the project in Kazakhstan within specific cultural context.
The workshop became an opportunity for reinforcing cooperation between all the participants (trainees), who directly and indirectly involved in the field of culture, as well as those who contribute to or benefit from it. Emphasis was also given to enhancing cooperation on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions, both at country and oblast level.
