CAYSPACE - Central Asian Youth Space , created by UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty as a part of the Organization's response to the COVID-19 crisis, with the aim of improving the knowledge and skills of young people in the region to overcome the negative consequences of pandemics.
All trainings are free and take place online, educational materials are presented in the form of interactive videos. The content of all training materials include both theoretical and practical tasks in the form of tests, after passing of which, the student receives a certificate.
“Our platform is unique in its inclusiveness. It allows all interested young people to receive additional education, regardless of their social and economic status, geographic location, including young people with special needs. We also believe that this project will provide support to parents who, due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, have lost the opportunity to pay for the additional education of their children", said Arina Myassoyed, National Officer of the Social and Human Sciences Sector at the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty.
The main task of this section of the platform is to ensure equal access to additional education, as well as to improve the knowledge and skills of young people for their successful employment.
Another area of CAYSPACE is the training of young trainers. UNESCO Almaty, with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has developed specialized courses within the framework of 5 programs of UNESCO's mandate: “Man and the Biosphere” - education on ecology and biodiversity; education for global citizenship; youth for preserving cultural heritage; media and information literacy; as well as the basics of youth entrepreneurship and project planning. Thus, UNESCO Almaty plans to create a pool of young trainers to implement this training program in rural areas of the region.
CAYSPACE students are also invited to partner with UNESCO and other international organizations in the form of access to a laboratory of ideas for the development of youth initiatives and projects to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Also, students have an access to information about the activities of UN agencies in the region, in particular about youth programs, opportunities for volunteering and internships.
“To date, almost 1000 people are registered on CAYSPACE for free online trainings. During the year we plan to reach over 3,000 young people from the region”, concluded Ms.Myassoyed.
