Central Asian Deputy Ministers/EFA Co-ordinators to Meet in Astana

The Deputy Ministers of Education of five Central Asian countries meet in Astana on 11 March 2008 in their capacity as national ‘Education for All’ coordinators, to plan for the seventh Central Asian Education Forum, to be held in Bishkek next July.

The meeting decide structure and functions of the Forum in general as well as the key themes of the next Forum meeting.

The Central Asian Education Forums have been organized annually since 2002, as a joint venture of the Education Ministries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, in collaboration with UNESCO and UNICEF.

The main goals of the Forum are to enhance regional partnerships and serve as a platform for capacity-building in fields that are important to the participating Ministries.
