On November 3 and 4, Bishkek hosts the sub-regional conference “Advancing education for sustainable development: Regional perspectives and experience”.

The conference provides educators a platform to exchange experiences in applying best practices for implementing sustainable development in education. The participants will discuss solutions to overcome existing problems in the school education system and develop joint steps aimed at further adaptation, dissemination and popularization of the concept of sustainable development in the countries of Central Asia.

The conference is attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments, educational institutions and teachers from all regions of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, international experts and development partners

The conference is held in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and organized by the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education "EdNet" and the public foundation "CAMP Alatoo" with the support of UNESCO, the Government of Estonia and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (German Society for International Cooperation).

The regional meeting will contribute to raising awareness about the challenges to sustainable development, including climate change, conflicts, depletion of natural resources, loss of biodiversity and various forms of discrimination, as well as a deeper understanding of the crucial role of education as a key factor in successfully achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in long term.
