Kazakh National Conservatory after Kurmangazy with the support of UNESCO organized the Preservation of the Library Fund Workshop in Almaty on 10 October 2017. Fourteen educational institutions and representatives of the concert and theater industry from Kazakhstan participated in the workshop devoted to World Day for Audiovisual Heritage (27 October).
30 musical librarians including university librarians and head of departments as well as staff of musical colleges and representatives of musical industries participated within the workshop to improve skills on digitalization and conservation of the national musical heritage. As follow up, the participants will practice digitalization skills to preserve musical notes and musical heritage of their institutions.
Workshop supported by the participation programme project "The unique musical notes’ library of the Kazakh National Conservatory after Kurmangazy - the open educational resource" with assistance of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO and UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office.
The goal of the project is strengthening national Open Education Resources, by using information and communication technologies in digitalization of the rare musical notes. The project continues the commitments made by the conservatory and music libraries in 2014 to support the Paris Declaration on Open Educational Resources.
UNESCO Almaty, Communication and Information Programme supports the administrative and program aspects of the project as a contribution to enabling universal access and preservation of information and Knowledge to build inclusive knowledge societies. The project also contributes to the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2017, National Memory of the World programme as well as to Open Solution and Open Education Resources.
