Training workshop on creation of Community Media Centers and access to information in Kyzylorda

On 30-31 March was held a training-seminar on the creation of the CMC and access to information for 12 online centers in Kyzylorda. The training was organized by center of the support for journalists "Minber" in cooperation with UNESCO Almaty Office.

Representatives of 12 online centersof Kyzylorda region, including coordinators of these centers, as well as volunteers took part in the training. 12 online-centres: Akkum, Madeniet, Enbekshi, Sulutobe, Shizhaga, Kambash, Zhankozha, Orkendeu, Inkardariya, Akzharma, Toretam and Sunakata. The total number of participants was 30 people. During the two-day training the organizers acquainted the participants with the main methods of creating the CMC. In the process of work,the theoretical approaches and practical ones were applied. Specially invited coach of Community Radio "Suusamyr FM" from Kyrgyzstan shared Kyrgyzstan experience of creating and developing community media centers. Participants of the training were taught to work with electronic resources, create and publish full-fledged news on Facebook and Twitter, work with mobile applications "Voice of Kyzylorda", also were trained in interview technique, recording audio cassettes, work with volunteers and interact with representatives of local authorities.

The trainer of the center of the support for journalists "Minber" spoke about the basic rights of citizens on access to information. In particular, the Law on Access to Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1 January 2016) was considered in detail.

The two-day training was very diverse, including various tasks and games that contributed to a rapid understanding of the received information. The best students of 7-8 classes of 12 villages of Kyzylorda region were selected as volunteers of this training.

All the acquired skills and knowledge were applied during the training in the course of practical assignments. All the participants of the training expressed their readiness and desire to further develop and receive new knowledge in order to improve their online centers.

Training is organized under Kyzylorda UN joint programme in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of regional development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akimat of Kyzylorda oblast and six organizations of the UN system – UNESCO, UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO and UN Women to enhance well-being and quality of life in the Kyzylorda region through innovative approaches by delivering economic, social and environmental services to local population, particularly the most vulnerable parts of the population.
