UNESCO invites interested specialists to submit their applications for the positions listed below.
National Consultants:
- National consultant to revise textbooks and teaching and learning materials for STEM subjects at secondary education level based on international standards and competency-based curricula. Please see the ToR here.

International Consultants:

- International consultant to assist in developing national ICT competency standards for secondary school teachers and VET teachers in Tajikistan. Please see the ToR here.
In recognition of the scarcity of the skilled teaching workforce and the need to improve the quality of learning resources, UNESCO implements the EU/UNESCO partnership project: “Strengthening Competency-Based and ICT-Enabled STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and VET (Vocational Education and Training) Education and Teacher- Training in Tajikistan”. The project benefits from financial support from the European Union under the Action Document "Quality Education Support Programme II. To support Tajikistan in making progress towards the achievement of SDG 4 and implementing its recently adopted National Strategy for Education Development for the period until 2030, the project aims: 1) to revise STEM textbooks (chemistry, biology and physics), 2) develop gender-responsive teaching and learning materials (TLMs) for these selected subjects based on competency-based curricula at the secondary education and VET levels, 3) train teachers, 4) equip the teacher training institutes/centres with ICT and STEM equipment.
Selection Criteria:
- Master’s degree in education, social research, social science and/or other relevant disciplines, specialized STEM education background will be a plus.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum and learning assessment, teacher preparation and professional development
- Knowledge of Tajik/Russian language for national consultants and English/Russian for international consultants.
- Relevant work experience in the education sector, particularly in STEM and vocational education and training
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders, including government officials, educators, parents, and students.
- Experience working on projects funded by international donors will be an asset.
