UNESCO jointly with the Republican In-Service Teacher Training Institute conducted a two-day workshop for preschool educators and managers on developing teaching and learning materials for early childhood education. The workshop was held in Dushanbe on 25-26 March 2008. It was led by two preschool experts from Kazakhstan.
Early childhood care and education a top priority for Tajikistan, and the country is seeking new approaches to improve the access and the quality of education.Kazakhstan has made progress developing teaching and learning materials for preschools. Ms. Arzanbayeva, Chair of Preschool and Primary Education at the Kazakh State Institute for Women’s Studies and Ms. Iliyasheva, Director of a preschool in Almaty shared their experiences with colleagues from preschools in Tajikistan.
As follow-up to the workshop, the Republican In-Service Teacher Training Institute will develop a set of materials for kindergartens, by end of this year.
The workshop was organized as part of UNESCO’s activities for the ‘Improvement of quality of education by developing the capacities of teachers and teacher education institutions in Tajikistan’.
