Creative industries of Kazakhstan in focus of the UNESCO 2005 Convention

On 9-10 June, 2015 the British Councils office in Almaty hosted the 2-days UNESCO training-workshop for promotion of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

This workshop was jointly organized by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and the British Councils in Kazakhstan, which in turn, has completed a project on the "Mapping of the creative industries in Almaty."

The main purpose of the workshop was to raise awareness among participants on the content of the 2005 Convention and to support the mechanisms of the creative industries. 13 participants – representatives of the creative industries and representatives of cultural organizations, interested in strengthening cooperation with the representatives of the creative sector in economy, were all invited to the workshop.

Invited trainer: Ms Nina Kochelyaeva - Ph.D. in History, Director of the New Institute for Cultural Research, UNESCO Consultant (Moscow, Russia).
