UNESCO and EdNet launch a competition among school teachers from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

26 August 2022

From 1 to 30 September 2022, UNESCO, in partnership with the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education "EdNet", is hosting the Best Practices in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) competition.

School teachers from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are invited to participate in the competition. 20 winners will receive laptops and other valuable prizes.

Competition participants will be required to conduct at least one ESD session in the classroom and produce a video demonstrating introspection on the session and observation of student behavior during the learning process and their attitude to the issues discussed in the class.

Applications are accepted in Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Uzbek and Russian languages. Applications are accepted through September 30 2022 and must be sent to [email protected]. Detailed information can be found here.

The competition is held as part of "Quality education for sustainable development through information and communication technology (ICT) approaches in Central Asia" project and is supported by the Government of Estonia.

The winners will participate in the Sub-regional Conference on exchange of experience in the field of education for sustainable development in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on November 3-4, 2022. All costs associated with participation in the conference will be covered by the organizers.

Education for sustainable development (ESD) is UNESCO’s education sector response to the urgent and dramatic challenges the planet faces. The collective activities of human beings have altered the earth’s ecosystems so that our very survival seems in danger because of changes more difficult to reverse every day. To contain global warming before it reaches catastrophic levels means addressing environmental, social and economic issues in a holistic way. UNESCO’s ESD for 2030 education programme aims to bring about the personal and societal transformation that is necessary to change course.
