Since 2006, the prize rewards projects and activities of individuals, institutions, other entities or non-governmental organizations for excellent models, best practices and creative use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to enhance learning, teaching and improve educational outcomes.
The UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICTs in Education aims to contribute to equity in education, a key pillar of the Education 2030 agenda, and the guiding principle of Sustainable Development Goal 4. The new agenda recognizes how ICT can be harnessed to assure inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all by 2030.
The theme of the current edition of the Prize is 'the use of ICTs to increase access to quality education'.
UNESCO National Commissions of the Member States of UNESCO and International Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) maintaining official relations with UNESCO are invited to solicit, nominate and submit candidatures for the Prize.
Submissions are due 20 October 2017.
